Mysterious Medical Marvel

Bailey got a purple Mohawk yesterday!! She absolutely loved it. We went to the vet and mom's work to show it off. (She had an appt . I didn't just show up, that would be weird). My friends and family always tease me that I can't be normal at anything...even when it comes to illnesses. About 7 weeks ago I noticed my legs were covered in petechia , well from my knees to my ankles, on both legs. I asked the docs I work for and they didn't seem that concerned about it...maybe I was shaving too hard or had rubbed my skin raw. So I watched it for about 3 weeks. It started to spread so I made an appointment with my family doctor. He prescribed prednisone and did some blood work. (I had a weird reaction to getting my blood drawn. My blood pressure bottomed out and it felt like I was fainting, but I never did lose consciousness...just couldn't see or hear anything and had the worst tingles in my hands and feet!) The first night I started it I had INTENSE cramps and my musc...

Month 2 nearly done

The month of February isn't ending on a good note for me because I am sick. Monday night I could feel my throat getting swollen, Tuesday I had them swab for strep (negative) but I have a blister the size of a quarter on the back of my throat and today, I've completely lost my voice. All of this is " dealable " It's also pretty crazy how strictly I have to follow a time schedule. My mom laughs at me because I'm always checking the clock..."I have to take some more Tylenol in 30 minutes, don't let me forget!" But it's true, if I don't keep up with it, as soon as that time has passed, I start running a fever again and feel horrible for at least 30 minutes until the meds kick in. The kitchen is coming along very nicely. I feel pretty bad that I haven't been as much help the past couple of days. We put up dry wall and mudded the ceiling last night. I'm slacking on pictures, but they'll be up eventually, promise!

Kitchen chapter 2

The process of remodeling is a lot more involved than I imagined. There are so many things I never even thought about. Little details that just seem to magically appear and bite you in the ass. For example. "Oh let's tile our kitchen counters!" turns into "Okay, lets!....Wait, what about the edges, what about the grout color, what about cutting the freaking tiles?! What about tiling around the sink?" It's crazy!! We re-plumbed our sink last night. That was an experience that I will never forget! First we had to move the garbage disposal from the right side sink to the left side. Wait, first we had to GET THE THING OFF OF THE SINK! I hate to admit we had to call someone and ask how to remove a disposal and sure enough, there was a trick to it! We had tried just about everything EXCEPT the one thing that would get it off. I guess that's why plumbers get paid so much...it's complicated and hard! Let me just say that intricate pipe work, TINY spaces, and...

New Kitchen Daze

We are remodelling the kitchen and decided to start demo work....by ourselves. I must say, I'm pretty impressed with our ability to just "do" something. The first day was cabinet removal. Sheesh, those things were solid wood I think and A LOT heavier than I ever imagined, just ask my back! But we got those down and cleared. Before I went to bed I took a hammer and just clobbered the wall. It's something I've ALWAYS wanted to do. It was very fun and satisfying. The kid inside me was relishing the moment. It quickly lost it's charm though. The next day we takled the wall. The whole wall. We got it knocked down too. One thing you never think about during remodeling (Well, -I- never think about) is clean up. I really REALLY don't like clean up!! We were both getting deliriously tired as the evening wore on. Silliness and shaky hands ensued and we could literally feel the strength leaving our body. By the end of the night as we sat and looked at all that we had...
