Snow Day

If only this were the front yard in Florida. To be buried in snow would be preferable.

Already Over

Image
I can't believe that the month of January is almost over. I suppose that when one is unemployed, time moves a bit differently. I haven't been completely useless though. I have read the behemoth that is "Under the Dome" by Stephen King. This whopper weighs in at 1072 pages. A delightful read. It did admittedly take a few chapter to get 'into' it. What I have learned from Mr. King is this: No matter what monsters, aliens, natural phenomenon, plagues, or supernatural occurrences that might exist/happen, nothing, absolutely nothing, is scarier or more horrifying than human nature. The plausible actions of the "ordinary" people in his books are the things nightmares are made of. I have delved into the ocean of music and caught the Cocteau Twins. Once again it seems as if I am 20 some odd years late on that one. Kind of sucks, but it makes the listening no less scrumptious. Who knew that This Mortal Coil was a side project? Wonders will never cease. I'...

Marilyn

Image
I started a project last week in graphite. After several days of being completely dissatisfied with it, I started over. The project was a picture of Marilyn Monroe and this is the final product. I didn't take WIPs because I didn't have much time. The new one was done in colored pencil.

Freezing Ninth

Freakishly cold in Florida! Everyone says so, it must be true. Finished reading "Undone" by Brooke Taylor. It was a good read. Quick and enjoyable if not a bit after-school-special-ish. Just started reading "Under the Dome" by Stephen King. He is either hit or miss with me. Sounds like a cool concept. The book is huge and I'm confident could be used as a weapon if one were holding it whilst in the middle of an argument. Since it's so freaking cold outside, I had a chance to start the Marilyn project. Going quicker than I thought. In progress pics soon, promise! Alias is yummy.

SnotVille

Image
I snapped this near the house in Pensacola. Just in case you didn't think you were on your own. I've recently come down with something on top of everything else. Includes more snot, less blood, but just as much headache. There are high points though, isn't there always? Got a new, flashy, hair cut. Got a portrait commission. Have had lots of time to snuggle kittens. It's the people. A photograph of mine was selected to be in the American Membrane Technology Association brochure for their conference being held in Knoxville. Randomize this: I opened the refrigerator this morning to this. It's a pig head. In our refrigerator.

Wait, Stay

Lack of sleep causes sheets to quiver through squinted eyes Coldness seeps in and won't leave like thoughts setting up camp in a place where Ideas are dangerous when born in such tumultuous circumstances

But I Can't
