First of December
I can't believe it's already here. I'm so excited! I -LOVE- the holidays. To commemorate this event (the beginning of December), here is a song. I LOVE the movie Anastasia. I love the soundtrack even more! This song pops up during the movie a couple of times and for some reason it always reminds me of my grandma. Her little nik-naks she had on the shelves. I remember I would get them down and play with them as a child and she would just let me, telling my mom not worry about it. "She's fine, leave her alone." She would say. And sometimes if we were alone she'd turn on the stereo while she would clean and sing a long with the music.
"Once Upon a December"
Dancing bears,
Painted wings,
Things I almost remember,
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December.
Someone holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver storm.
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory...
Someone holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver storm.
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory...
Far away, long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart Used to know,
Things it yearns to remember...
And a song Someone sings
Once upon a December
The weather is CRAZY huh? I keep seeing on the news how half of the country is basically covered in snow. It's been so cold around here, but the past week we've gotten unseasonably WARM temps. I think it's coming our way though, there is a definite bite to the wind today.
Weird conversation I had with a patient yesterday.
PARENT: I need to make an appt. for my daughter. She's been coughing for two weeks.
ME: Okay, can you come in at this time?
PARENT: Sure, sure..that would be great. Don't hang up! I have one more question.
ME: Okay.....
PARENT: I want her to get a flu shot too.
ME: (that's really not a question) Okay, but they won't give her one if she's sick or running a fever.
PARENT: She's not sick, she plays tennis.
ME: Ummm, is this a different child we're talking about?
PARENT: No, I only have one.
ME: She has a cough for two weeks but she's not sick?
PARENT: (He's getting agitated now) NO! I -SAID- she plays tennis!!
ME: Right. Okay, well just ask the nurses when you get here, okay?
Someone really needs to write a book about all of these weird conversations people have as part of their job.
I would haved liked to meet your grandmother. She sounds like a wonderful and amazing person, honestly. There's so much you've told me and obviously she had a huge impact on your life. It's beautiful! I can just picture it. If you haven't considered it, you ought to write a book. At any rate, you know I believe compltely that music has a wonderful effect. Very moving. Very passionate.
ReplyDeleteAs for the caller...HAHAHAH! That's priceless. THAT better be in your OTHER book!
