Solid Bars of Color
I've been putting off updating for a little while. I recently finished the book Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts and I wanted to really formulate a well written review. However, I find that virtually impossible. The book is so large and covers so many themes. Suffice it to say I enjoyed it. I would recommend it to everyone with a fair warning that it comes in at almost 1000 pages and some of the narrative gets pretty deep. I've never read a book like it though. It was eye-opening and awe inspiring.
This weekend was a blast! I think I'm turning into one of those weekend warriors. All business and laziness during the week and then as soon as the weekend comes it's full throttle fun. We went white water rafting. Since we are experiencing a drought the river was a little low. It was so much fun though. Whenever we'd get stuck on a rock everyone had to jump out and push. We tipped down one falls and lost two people. I put sunscreen on but nose and knees got burned anyway. It was worth it! I think we're having a big party on the 4th. We ended up inviting everyone from the rafting trip to the lake with us. Should be an experience.
Yesterday was a much calmer day. I had to work and shop for food but after that it was a relaxing afternoon spent vegging. I did watch Deja Vu with Denzel Washington. I had heard a lot of mixed reviews about it. I don't think people understood it very well. I, myself have BIG issues with time travel. I ranted about it for days after watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. However, this movie didn't confuse me all that much. I mean, my mind still has a problem wrapping around time travel but the movie was more than that. It was entertaining. Heck, Denzel could probably be in a silent movie and I would find it fascinating.
Now I'm a couple of chapters into The Amber Spyglass. The third installment of His Dark Materials. The first book (That is being made into a movie and released this winter called The Golden Compass) is still my favorite. Lyra doesn't have as big of a role as she does in the first one and that's just not cool! I'm also feeling creative, so hopefully I can channel that into a drawing.
