Kitchen chapter 2
The process of remodeling is a lot more involved than I imagined. There are so many things I never even thought about. Little details that just seem to magically appear and bite you in the ass. For example. "Oh let's tile our kitchen counters!" turns into "Okay, lets!....Wait, what about the edges, what about the grout color, what about cutting the freaking tiles?! What about tiling around the sink?" It's crazy!!
We re-plumbed our sink last night. That was an experience that I will never forget! First we had to move the garbage disposal from the right side sink to the left side. Wait, first we had to GET THE THING OFF OF THE SINK! I hate to admit we had to call someone and ask how to remove a disposal and sure enough, there was a trick to it! We had tried just about everything EXCEPT the one thing that would get it off. I guess that's why plumbers get paid so much...it's complicated and hard! Let me just say that intricate pipe work, TINY spaces, and two hormonal women do not mix well together. But it worked out. When you do everything yourself there really isn't another option. It's not like you can just throw down the screw driver and say "YOU DO IT!" So even though tempers flare and voices raise it's always very shortlived and we get the job done. Even if it does take us a few hours.
We should get the counters done and start on the flooring this week. As always there will be pictures!

My god woman! Atleast now I know that if you and I are ever living in the same home, you can do all of the 'guy work.' I simply don't put my head under sinks if I can avoid it. I hate even just getting the windex or clorox from under there. Ick! *lol* All jokes aside (though, I guess I was not REALLy joking about that) I think this is a really good experience for you and your mother. It's not just a good way to bond and build relationships (Because, yes, even bickering can aid in that) but it will be something you can look upon proudly. YOU did it! ^_^
