Thank you
Poetry Month
Thank you
I have a new appreciation for the inside of cars
And what it feels like to be in a big family
I learned to not just think of myself
And I know what it feels like to anticipate a kiss
Found a child’s love
Never been so afraid for someone else’s safety
Lego’s and coffee, New Orleans in the morning
I know the comfort of holding hands
And the safety of a long hug
Roses are yours and I smile
New music I never listened to before
Back rubs and grinding teeth
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Will never be as funny as that night
I shared my hidden trail no one would ever find
Laughed in the water falls over power poses
Upside down roller coaster with a boy
Who’s going to be a great man
Because of you
Escaped Beagles and new foods
Birthdays with feet in the water at midnight
Kicking balls in the front yard
putting babies on washing machines
and painting with chalk under the full moon
For all of these things…
I thank you
