Classy Wine Tasting
Time to play catch up.
On thursday night we went to a wine tasting class. That was an experience I will not soon forget. The instructor was VERY knowledgeable as were the people who sat at the table with us. Honestly, the 'art' or wine collecting and tasting is a little bit too technical for me. I don't really care much about vintage and winery and grape. But I REALLY liked the 'tasting' part. We started off with a sparklin chardonay. VERY nice. I like anything sparkling though. Then we moved to white wines. Now, here we were instructed to swirl and smell the wine. We were told there should be a faint "grass" smell along with Lemons and other acidic fruits. Okay, lemon..yum..GRASS?? Ewww. Moving on to the reds. Now here I have a problem. This stuff looks SO pretty and tasy, much like grape juice! *shakes head* Such lies. Red wines are AWFUL! Here I'm told we should smell "barnyard and smoke" *wrinkles nose* Putting these thoughts into my head is just ASKING for it to taste awful. Although I found if you put a lot of food in your mouth and take a drink it's not so bad. THEN we were on to dessert wines!! My favorite or so I thought. The first one was an "ice wine" OHHH My gosh it was SO good. I learned it's VERY expensive though. The second one was a red port. It was so bitter it took all of the mouisture right out of my mouth! YUCK! Great experience though, I had a lot of fun and I learned a lot too!
Moving on. A couple of months ago, well...late August I was sitting in bed reading when I felt my heart skip a beat. The sensation was so bizarre it almost took my breath away. I didn't think much of it, but it happened again a few weeks later. I was told this was normal though. Then I started getting a tightening feeling and it was hard to take a deep breath sometimes, so I called my doc and made an appt. He did an EKG in the office and noticed it was in fact skipping. So I got to wear a Holtor monitor for a day. That wasn't awful but I hated lugging it around and sleeping with wires attached to me. Another thing is waiting. I hate waiting for results. I'm sure everything is fine though, and my support group is AMAZING *wink*

This weekend
^___^ You'll be fine because even if you're NOT fine, you will be! I have alot of faith in you and in the doc! Plus, I trust my gut and it hasn't said anything bad about anything so we're absolutely good. I'll be sure to keep you a little less active this weekend. NO HIKING!!!
ReplyDeleteOther than that...barnyard wine just sounds awful. I bet it tastes like the Greek Pine sap stuff. YEAK! And you know me@ I'm open minded to new flavors and smells. But I'm going to file that along with FISH SAUCE from the chinese restaurant and just avoid it at all costs. DO NOT TOUCH!
HEY YOU BUM! ^___^ I took the road pic and you posted it! *_* How cool!
