Near Midnight Ramblings

It seems like all I do these days is write about 'serving'. I suppose it makes sense though since that is what I am doing. I do other stuff too though. Go to the beach, swim, find banks...sleep, sleep A LOT, watch movies, hang out. Said like that it seems kind of boring, but I like it.
Tonight wasn't a great night. There were some fun points though. I started off with a really bad headache so that was the first strike. I get there and 3..yep, count 'em 3 servers had called in. That bumped my section up to 7 tables. My sidework was also the dreaded tea. This is quite possibly the worst sidework that you can get!! It means that when you are scrambling to fill people's drinks, get their bread, take there orders...you still have to run back to the kitchen to make sure that the vats of tea are filled and you have to do this the whole entire night!! It sucks MAJOR!
Turns out I was also the only female server tonight. That just meant that I was teased mercilessly. I've been tipping my little Russian busboy insanely well though. He's become my little lap dog almost. He brings out my trays, is right on top of cleaning my tables. He even was helping me clean the vats of tea this evening. The other servers kept asking me what I had done to him. I just said I'm 'that' charming. lol. He's in an exchange program and only works here in the summer and then goes back to Russia. Turns out he's like in college to be an engineer. How cool is that? Very cute too, but the language barrier is rough.
I had to pick up an extra table though because one of the other servers was so far in the weeds that they had been waiting for like 15 minutes just to put in their drink order. I wasn't mad but it was a little frustrating.
I find working with guys very bizarre. I have never actually worked with them so closely. Bunch of crazy drama queens! They get over run with tables and they start freaking out. They will also come up behind you and give shoulder rubs. They will ask things such as "If we were eating spaghetti like Lady and the Tramp. Would you be Lady or the Tramp?" I responded with "I don't like spaghetti". The cooks are some of the craziest though. I ask for more fish and the dudes all, "You smile like that at me again and you can have anything your little heart desires." Oh please!! It makes me laugh though. I just joke back with them or throw ice.
They have a dry erase board and keep a running game up of just who can hit us with pieces of okra. Different body parts are worth different amounts of points.
I'm exhausted and I think I'm gonna go crash in my bed. Just gotta get through tomorrow and I have 2 days off! Heaven! Though work really isn't all that bad, but it'll be nice to let my muscles recover.
