mini rants and goodbyes

Mini rant: Why do some people say "you know?" or "you know what I mean?" after every sentence?? I think this is incredibly rude!! You are basically FORCING the person listening to you to interact and actually pay attention. I don't think it's horrible to say it sometimes.....case in point: You are talking to someone and they get that look. Their eyes glaze over and their mouth opens slightly in this dumbfounded way. Then by all means, please ask!! "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT???" But for goodness sake don't abuse it!! Like this:

" Wow, it's really warm out this morning, ya know?"
" I hate it when people leave their blinkers on, you know what I mean?"

*blinks* I mean, is that necessary?? You're stating the obvious already. Okay, I'm done! :p

It seems like I just got back, my body is slowly adjusting to normal sleep patterns and I'm finally getting back into the rhythm of things....and then I leave again this afternoon right after work. Where am I going you ask? To Oklahoma. It's basically a 12-14 hour drive. We're going to drive to Memphis tonight which is about 6-7 hours depending on how much we stop. If I was by myself I could make it in 5, but I won't be. Why am subjecting myself to being stuck in a car with 3 other people for 12 hours?? Because I'm CRAZY INSANE!! *lol* No, we're going to see family. I grew up a lot in Oklahoma, don't get me wrong it has it's good points, I just can't think of any right now. It's sooooo incredibly flat it's very hard to drive through because your eyes get tired from not being able to focus on anything, this is also true for Arkansas. And the storms, oh my god, the storms. I shiver just thinking about them. If it's storming, I am NOT driving!!!! So, wish me luck.

    My pet peeve is people who say "like" or "right" during each sentence.

    I prefer e-mail to face to face talking. You can't see me rolling my eyes.

    Well, I can't really comment on that since I'm guilty of 'You know' after many of my sentances. *shrugs* I just really can't comment.
    I do wish you a good and safe and swift return because this weekend's going to be agony for me! Te necessito! Vuelve pronto por favor.

Losing Money

That's what my bosses are doing today. They make us work on Memorial Day and then question why we aren't busy. But hey, why should I care? I'm getting paid to sit here and read. It's just that sometimes I can't help feeling I'm stuck in a Saturday detention. Doesn't help that half of the employees called in 'sick' today. Maybe I'm just jealous and bitter. I did have a wonderful weekend though! We went to the lake on Saturday and couldn't have asked for better weather. Had a BBQ, soaked up some sun, went home and slept. I watched Trainspotting while I unpacked some more boxes. It was disturbing to say the least and the baby, TRAUMATIZING. Johnny Lee Miller is absolutely adorable though. On Sunday we went to the theater and saw Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End . I was a little 'iffy' about it because I had read it was over 2 1/2 hours long. So this is INCREDIBLY rambly...just had to get some things out! Life is.... interesting I feel..... everything One moment I feel very adult-like. I have responsibilities, a career (even if it's one I don't like). I have bills to pay and I'm budgeting my money. I make wise choices and investments. I help people with their problems and I am a shoulder to cry on. I fix things and I'm in complete control. I know how the world works and I feel comfortable with that. In between this breath and the next I'm on my ass. Things aren't like that at all. Am I just fooling myself? Is it a coping mechanism for us because we are so programed to think that way?
