A Series Of Unfortunate Events
"Unfortunately" -> Having or marked by bad fortune; unlucky.
- I woke up and started my car, noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust. I was also 2 days past due for an oil change. Decided to take it in for an oil change. Once I started driving the smoke disappeared. Oil change place is not a "mechanic" place and therefore had no idea what to say or do about it.
- Got back home and was greeted by a very dead and partially "torn" frog along with two very angelic and innocent looking cats.
- Went to the bathroom and precariously dodged a jumping spider and it's friend The Centipede.
- Was putting away my laundry and could not for the life of me find ONE of my favorite pink striped socks.
- Got to work and was told I was going to train a new server. Not horrible, just very distracting, especially since we were very busy tonight. ( I never realize how much I do things without thinking about it.)
- Realized I left my wallet at home.
- A gentleman at a table was unhappy with the size of a side item. (Not enough in his opinion). I apologized and brought out a second side to add to the first. The rest of their meal went off without a hitch, and I remembered to refill all of their drinks. What did I have left in my tip tray? The side item neatly placed on top of the receipt and a big zero underlined, not twice, not three times, but four times, on the tip line.
- Got into my car after work and it sounded funny starting. A blinking orange light informed me that I need to get my engine checked soon. I began talking very nice to my vehicle, telling it that if it just got me home, I would to take it to have it looked at FIRST THING in the morning.
- A mile from the turn in to my neighborhood and the road is closed. There is only one entrance to this neighborhood. I detour 6 miles out of my way and finally end up a block from the turn in on the other side. I sit in a "line up" for 35 minutes with the orange light as my only companion, waiting for a lead car to drive us a block up the road.
Okay, I feel better! It wasn't all bad anyway. In fact, it's pretty much absolutely funny in retrospect. I made good tips on other tables to make up for that table, and I have a job so I am "ABLE" to pay for repairs. It's not detrimental, just inconvenient. I made it home without incident and snuggled with Pagles until he fell asleep in my arms. I grabbed some chocolate covered pretzels and took a shower that was insect free. Things are looking up!
