Las Vegas Day 1
Our journey started off with good and bad juju. My classes got cancelled so we were able to leave 5 hours earlier than expected which was awesome because we could find a hotel and get some sleep instead of waking up at 1 in the morning and driving. The bad news was that a huge line of very bad storms were coming our way and we were going to drive right through them. It was not nearly as bad as expected. We didn't even get rain until a few miles outside of New Orleans. Once inside of the city there was about 15-20 minutes of white knuckle driving and going only 30mph on the interstate, which is a surreal thing to do. It was very nerve wracking being away from my sister and nephews and people I cared about in P. We kept in touch every 10 minutes or so and that helped immensely.
We made it to the airport the next morning. First time in a cab for me! I liked not having to drive or worry about parking. Felt a little bit like a celebrity.
Made it through security and the airport with no problems. Our flight was delayed about an hour because the FAA computers were down and they were having to do our flight plan by paper. The view from the plane was breathtaking! The airport was exactly like I expected. I am a badass at navigating and finding my way, just let me say that! We got into another cab and went to our resort. It's beautiful but not so lavish. More low-key and I like that. All of the lights and noise and people can cause anxiety after long exposure. We had sushi and waited for everyone else to catch up to us. Had the most expensive meal of my entire life at the Tropicana and lost $10 in a machine then called it a night. It's frustrating having to rely on transportation and riding with drunk people. This really obnoxious guy was super drunk and trying to play rock music from his phone. I thought he was going to start a fight on the bus or get kicked off because he kept harassing the driver to plug his phone in so the entire bus could enjoy his music.
So much to look at and take in!
